MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
RRS provides a practical approach to
management systems by tailoring the management
system to the company, not the company to
the management system. RRS is one of
very few firms that can analyze existing
systems and programs, and then develop fully
optimized management system design models.
The design models give facility management
the opportunity to adjust and make informed
decisions on which management system design
is right for their facility.
Designing management systems to lower
risk and improve safety performance requires
expertise in process safety and risk management,
as well as management system design, development,
and implementation. All management systems
designed by RRS provide organized, documented,
and integrated programs that are tailored
to existing practices and cultures. These
management systems are clear, easy for employees
to understand, and ready to implement.
ANSI Z10
The American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) along with the American Industrial
Hygiene Association have developed and released
ANSI Z10, a voluntary consensus standard
for Occupational Health and Safety Management
Systems. The purpose is to provide an effective
management tool for continual improvement
of OH&S performance and applies the
recognized quality concept of Plan-Do-Check-Act.
The ANSI Z10 is designed to be compatible
with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other management
systems. OSHA, through the Voluntary Protection
Program and their participation on this
document, endorses the principles as an
effective tool for improving health and
safety performance in industry.
The ANSI Z10 scope is a standard of management
principles and systems to help organizations
improve safety and health performance. The
standard has seven sections that include:
- Management leadership
- Employee participation
- Planning
- Implementation and operation
- Evaluation and corrective action
- Management review
- Appendices address roles and responsibilities,
policy statements, assessment and prioritization,
audit information and much more.
Since the release of ANSI Z10, OSHA has
set aside its plans to develop a health
and safety rule. In effect, this statement
becomes the recognized “good practices”
that OSHA will audit against.
Why should our companies address ANSI
Z10?
- Improve protection of worker health
and safety in a cost-effective manner
- Help to integrate quality environment,
health and safety systems
- Provide tools for implementation of
existing and future governmental regulations
- It is just good business sense
RRS can help organizations use this
standard to achieve HSE goals.
